Romy was simply beautiful. She transcended Hollywood glamour then, and what passes for it today. 26 years since her death, Romy Schneider is still very much in the hearts and minds of us who loved her. Her voice is still very much in our ears, and her visage fills our eyes. If Romy could come back now she would still bowl over the movie industry. Very few of today's starlets could make the same boast, especially if they were to go back in Romy's day when glamour and charm meant something. Romy's photographs present a woman who is the physical personification of glamour-she was glamour. To be in the same room with her was an unforgetable event. Romy Schneider had only to flash her beautiful big blue eyes your way, and everyone else in the room suddendly sank to insignificance. It's been 29 years since I had the great fortune to personally experience the phenomenon called Romy Schneider. Those of us who met her that day will never forget it. When Romy looked at you, she made you feel as if you were the only one in the room with her, that's the kind of eye contact and smile you received. She had a cheerful sounding voice; Romy spoke with a heavy Austrian accent that was almost musical to one's ears. Romy, I still love you forever. Rest in peace.
